NO fewer than 24 teams are expected to take part in the forthcoming Igando Ramadan Cup, which is scheduled to begin on March 25, 2023, at the Igando palace playground, in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

Three matches would be played on Saturday, March 25, as Great Feet FC face Pacos, Sterling will battle Samba, and K. Property FC will go head-to-head against Future Stars feeders.

Speaking at the draw ceremony held recently, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi confirmed that only 24 teams would fight for honours and urged the teams to complete their registration forms before next week Tuesday.

“We are thinking of 32 teams before but we observed that time is running against us so we have resolved to allow 24 teams to take part in the competition.

"I can only appeal to the club owners to pay their registration forms and those who want to balance us should do so before Tuesday,” he said.

Gbadamosi reminded the teams to expect better officiating and organisation in this year’s edition and warned the teams to desist from vices that can bring the tourney into disrepute.

“This year’s Ramadan Cup would be better in all ramifications. We have increased the prize money compared to the last edition and we have contacted certified referees to officiate all the matches. All the teams would be given level playground throughout the competition,” he said.

Gbadamosi, however, thanked the cup donor, Iyke Madu for his support for the tournament and promised that the organisers would live up to expectations.
