KSA, P-Square, Yinka Davies set to light up AMAA

The organisers of the AMA Award also unveiled that some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry will be performing live at the award ceremony.

THE 18th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) has commenced with a week-long list of events which started on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

The organisers of the prestigious award ceremony also unveiled that some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry will be performing live at the award ceremony.

According to a statement by the organisers, the awards gala night set for October 30, 2022, in Lagos, Nigeria, will see music legend, King Sunny Ade take the stage as well as a music duo, P-Square and veteran singer, Yinka Davies.

For this year’s AMAA nomination, the South African feature film, ‘Surviving Gaza’; and Ghana’s ‘Borga’ snagged up 14 nominations each out of the 26 categories while Tanzania’s official Oscars submission, ‘Tug of War followed closely with 12 nominations.

Uganda’s official Oscars submission, ‘Tembele’ and Nigeria’s ‘Man of God’ were nominated in 9 different categories, 'Jolly Roger with nominations in eight categories, ‘Swallow’ with nominations in seven categories, ‘A Song from the Dark’ and ‘Angelina’ with six nominations; ‘Ayaanle’, ‘Almajiri’ and ‘Road to my Father’s Compound’ with five nominations.
