GIZ graduates 75 fish farmers in Alimosho

THE Executive Chairman, Alimosho LGA, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, has congratulated about 75 beneficiaries of the just concluded fish farming training organised by the Nigerian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Integration (NGC) - an extension of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in collaboration with Poineers E. Services and hosted by the Alimosho Local Government.

According to a statement by the Chairman's Special Assistant on Media, Babatunde Yusuf, the two weeks training, which started on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, had the full participation of the beneficiaries who went through intensive coaching, thereby giving them all the knowledge needed to be able to produce a market-size catfish from fingerlings.

In his speech, the Council Mayor, who spoke through the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Dare Ogunkoya, said the training is a one-in-town opportunity which is capable of allowing the beneficiaries to be self-dependent given all the commitments and dedication required.

He added that the training is a means to allow the beneficiaries to become an employer of labour rather than looking for a job.

Others who spoke, including the representatives of the GIZ-NGC, the Pioneers E. Services, and the trainer also emphasised the need for the trainees to utilize the opportunity to move from employee status to becoming an employer through seriousness and consistency in the fish farming business.
