Jelili bags WAMASON Award of Recognition

THE Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, Hon. Jelili Adewale Sulaimon, has bagged an Award of Recognition from the Waste Management Society of Nigeria (WAMASON), Lagos Council for his contribution towards the promotion of circular economy in Alimosho Local Government and by extension in Lagos State.

Information reaching Alimoshotoday states that the award was given to the council Mayor a dinner programme organized to recognize individuals, government, and cooperate organizations in Lagos State.

During the award ceremony, the body appreciated the efforts and contributions of all the key stakeholders towards ensuring a circular economy in Lagos State.

In his address, the Councillor of Lagos WAMASON, Comrade Gbolahan Yusuf, who is also a Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area, affirmed that waste management is a collective responsibility, noting that all stakeholders are expected to play an important role in ensuring that the environment is rid of waste. 

In his words, “Waste management is not throwing wastes into our surroundings. Rather, it is the act of transforming the waste into useful things because waste is not waste until it is wasted.”
