RESIDENTS of Ogunbambi Street, off Akeja Street in Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Alimosho Local Government have expressed distress and anguish the over the poor state of drainage in their community.

They are thereby calling out to the state government for intervention.

Ogunbambi Street connects Hostel Bus Stop, Liasu Road through Akeja and another estate at the back.

The residents told Alimosho Today that the abandoned drainage has maimed people living in the area during the rains and destroyed property worth millions of Naira. This is coming a few weeks after the Second Vice Chairman of the Community Development Area (CDA), Prince Shakiru Akerele Yussuff, decried the neglected drainage in a video.

Alhaja Kausarat Balogun who spoke in Yoruba said: "This gutter has been very notorious for injuring people. All the water comes from the upper side of the community and gather here, causing heavy flooding. As you can see, the water is eating up the buildings and the gutter is getting wider. Right here where we sell, the water has expanded the gutter and we have been forced to erect planks to save our property. We appeal to the government to remember us on Ogunbambi Street, Off Akeja, Egbe-Idimu LCDA."

Another resident, Mr Abdualazeez Ololade, said: "This place is really bad, I must tell you the rate at which people fall here and get injured is really alarming. Some people break their arms, some their legs. The government should please come and help us. A little girl once fell here and broke her arm. We don't have gutters at all.  Only individuals who can afford the cost have constructed the ones in front of their houses."
