Tragedy as 4 burnt to death, 16 injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway lone accident

A total of 20 persons were involved, four burnt beyond recognition while one female and 15 men were injured.

ABOUT four persons have been reportedly burnt to death in the early hours of Friday, August 05, 2022, while 16 others sustained various injuries in a lone accident involving a Mazda bus with registration number APP934XH at the Oniworo, Foursquare Camp area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

This development was confirmed, in Abeokuta, by the Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ahmed Umar, through the Superintendent Route Commander and Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe. 

Declaring that the accident occurred at about 7:50 am, Ahmed stated that the bus driver was speeding excessively before losing control and ramming into the median, which then caused the bus to summersault and burst into flames.

“A total of 20 persons were involved, four burnt beyond recognition while one female and 15 men were injured,” he said.

Mr Umar stated that the injured victims were taken to a hospital at Ogere in Ogun State.

He then advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes.
