PHOTOS: Train rams into commercial vehicle on rail track Monday morning

ON the first day of the resumption of train services in Lagos, a commercial van veered into the tracks and caused an accident at Oshodi Station.

Eyewitness accounts reaching AlimoshoToday from the officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), it appears the bus was trying access to gain access to the Arena Shopping Complex, which is open today for commercial activities. As expected, there was a lot of vehicular traffic moving in and out of the complex, making movement very slow and the bus was caught in the traffic on the rail track.

There are usually rail attendants at that spot but LASTMA officials confirm that most motorists refuse to listen to their advice to leave some space on the track for train movement.

Another sources also claimed that a commercial bus with number plate, GGE 972 GE had veered onto the train tracks while crossing the rail at PWD inward Oshodi and subsequently collided with a scheduled commuter train.

Casualties are yet to be identified.
