LASUBEB announces registration for free compulsory education as new session begins

THE Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has called for the registration of pupils for free compulsory Nursery / Primary education for the 2020/2021 academic session.

In a press release yesterday, the Chairman, Mr Wahab Alawiye King said: "The general public is hereby notified that registration for admission into Nursery One  and Primary One  will commence in all Public Nursery/Primary Schools in Lagos State from Monday 21st September- Friday 23rd October 2020."
 
He said: "The minimum registration age for primary one is six years old, that is, only children born between April 1, 2014, and March 31, 2015, whose parents or guardians are residents in Lagos State are qualified for registration."
 
According to him, application for registration are obtainable from the head-teachers of all public nursery/primary schools in the State. Parents and guardians are further directed to register in the schools nearest to their homes.
 
The period for registration is highlighted as Monday 21st September- Friday 23rd October, 2020 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily. 
 
Mr Alawiye King also informed the public that each completed application form must be accompanied by three passport-sized photographs of the child and the 
birth certificate.
 
He also stated that the registration must be followed by evidence that parent/guardian is a resident of the State with LASRRA and parents/guardian’s tax clearance.
 
Also, completed application forms must be submitted to the head-teacher of the school from where it was obtained and must reach him/her on or before Friday,  October 23, 2020.
 
The chairman remarked that no late registrations will be considered. He also added that parents are advised not to register at more than one centre.
 
The chairman emphasised that "REGISTRATION IS FREE" and children to be registered are required to be present at the registration centre during collection and submission of application forms.
