THE Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, has announced the Government’s initiative to provide specialised training for practitioners in the State’s real estate sector.

”This move aims to enhance professionalism and integrity within the industry while ensuring compliance with regulatory laws and standards,” she said during a recent media chat with journalists at her office in the Secretariat, Alausa.

Odunuga-Bakare emphasised the importance of aligning real estate transactions with Lagos State’s regulations, stating that there is a need for practitioners to undergo appropriate training to conduct transactions in a manner that upholds the State’s status and complies with regulatory laws.858020b2-ce58-4be2-b0b8-2d72e413070e

The Special Adviser expressed concerns about fraudulent practices in the sector, attributing them to the emergence of untrained and unlicensed real estate practitioners across the State.

She noted that some individuals use real estate as a means to supplement their income without the necessary qualifications, potentially jeopardising the interests of both buyers and sellers.

To address these challenges, Odunuga-Bakare revealed plans for a comprehensive training programme covering various aspects of real estate transactions.

”The programme will encompass legal frameworks, ethical standards, and industry best practices, aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of practitioners.

”The initiative aligns with our administration’s broader efforts to promote sustainable development and create a conducive environment for investment in Lagos State’s real estate market.

”By ensuring effective regulation and oversight, we aim to elevate the standards of real estate practices and benefit all stakeholders involved,” she stated.

The Special Adviser then reiterated the Government’s commitment to promoting compliance and accountability within the sector through targeted training initiatives.
