Large crowd as Lagos discounted food markets commence sales

Ounje Eko Discount Food Market begins as vendors arrive in batches

THE Lagos food market ‘Ounje Eko’ offering discounted prices on essential food items across the State commenced sales across designated venues on Sunday, March 17, 2024, with staple food items including rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper.

Note that the Sunday market is an initiative of the Governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration to ameliorate the prevailing economic hardship on residents.8966

According to media reports, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had ordered that food products at the “Ounje Eko” food markets be sold at a 25% discount in all five divisions of Lagos, comprising Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

Security operatives including Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were available to monitor the situation at the food markets.8967

One of the beneficiaries, who purchased some items, expressed satisfaction with the food market and the prices of the items, noting that they were cheap and affordable.
