Court remands 16-year-old for defiling four-year-old child in Lagos

The defendant defiled the victim, who is his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter, by fingering her.

AN Ikeja Magistrates Court in Lagos on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, ordered that a 16-year boy be remanded in the Oregun Juvenile Corrective Home, Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.

According to media reports, the defendant, who resides in Wole Oladokun Street, Ojo Meiran, Lagos State, was charged with defilement.

The Prosecution Counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, declared that the defendant committed the offence on August 8, 2022, at the aforementioned address.

Ajayi alleged that the defendant defiled the victim who is his neighbour’s daughter by fingering her. The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of Section 27 and was punishable under section 210(8) of the child rights law of Lagos State, 2015

The presiding Magistrate, Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take the defendant’s plea directed the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She then adjourned the case until October 25, 2022, for mention.
