IN the early hours of Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Maruwa Junction, in the Lekki area of Lagos State, a commercial bus somersaulted while the bus driver was allegedly trying to beat the traffic light which resulted in the death of the driver and many passengers left injured.
According to media reports, the bus driver tried to beat a traffic light which caused him to run into a black highlander thereby making the bus driver to lose control of the bus causing the bus to somersault and leading to the injury of many people while the bus driver was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.
While confirming the incident on Sunday, June 26, 2022, the Lagos Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Olusegun Ogungbemigbe explained that the impact of the collision made the commercial bus somersault.
“Unfortunately, the bus driver died, while several passengers were injured and taken to a hospital.
“The victims were already rescued by the Lekki Concession Company before the arrival of men of the FRSC,” he said.
The official added that the bus was recovered with the aid of an LCC tow truck.
