Klopp does not believe Liverpool can make top 4

LIVERPOOL boss, Jurgen Klopp, has played down the possibility of his team qualifying for the Champions League next season after a comfortable 3-0 win against Leicester City yesterday, which now puts them in fifth position, one point behind Manchester United after playing one game more.

The Merseyside Club had a slow start this season but bounced back as they have now recorded seven straight wins, which has made them progress on the table, one place away from the top four.

Despite the grass-to-grace story, Jurgen Klopp still believes it would be impossible for his team to break through into the top four to move to the Champions League, which would mean either Newcastle United or Manchester United would miss out on it.

“It's all we can do. I don't think it's likely [finishing in the top four] when you see how they play, they have so much quality. It would be a real shame if they slip and we're not there. So we have to do our job,” the German tactician told BBC.

"I think we have qualified for European football, which, six weeks ago, wasn't in sight. I wouldn't have believed it [that they'd be in the Champions League mix]. We didn't show this consistency," he added.

As it stands, Liverpool is guaranteed at least an appearance in the Europa League next season, but it would be a bad record for the team who have, in recent times, gone to the Champions League.
