FOLLOWING the ruling of the Supreme Court on the continued use of the old naira notes, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has, again, warned Lagosians against rejecting the notes.

Recall that last month, the Governor had warned those rejecting the notes to desist from the act while threatening to prosecute them.

However, reinforcing the earlier directive, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso said in a statement that there is no reason to reject the old notes, going by the March 3, 2023, judgment of the Supreme Court.

The Commissioner further reiterated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's call on business owners, especially retailers, to accept the old #500 and #1,000 notes in line with the Supreme Court's judgment that the currency remains legal tender until December 31, 2023.

The State Government also directed that all agencies of Government should not reject payments made with the old currency by the public.
