Sanwo-Olu warns Lagosians against rejection of old naira notes, threaten prosecution

FOLLOWING the controversy surrounding the naira swap policy and the rejection of the old naira notes by most Lagosians, the Lagos State Government, under the authority of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has warned those rejecting the old notes to desist from doing so or face prosecution.

The position of the State Government was contained in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.3103

Citing the decision of the Supreme Court that the old notes still remain legal tenders, the State Government added that it is against the law to reject the old notes as doing so is contrary to the position of the Supreme Court.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further urged Lagosians to remain law-abiding and shun mischief makers who may exploit the situation to promote their anti-people agenda.
