THE Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, has congratulated Nigerians on the victories of Nigerian players during the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) awards 2023.
His congratulatory note on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, read: “As a football fan and passionate Nigerian, I celebrate our footballers and nation's great performances at the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF, 2023 Award, which was held on Monday night, December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.
“We are achievers who are born with great talent. Nigeria dominated the night at the CAF Awards. Our compatriot, Victor Osimhen, was named Player of the Year for leading Napoli’s Serie A title triumph last term, scoring 26 goals in the league to become the first African to win the top scorer award.
“Asisat Oshoala won CAF’s Women’s Player of the Year for a record sixth time after inspiring Barcelona to Champions League glory. Chiamaka Nnadozie clinched her first-ever CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
“Nigeria also won the National Team of the Year (Women).
“It is a great pride that our youths have continued the fine tradition of Nigeria’s football excellence on the global stage. This remarkable achievement places Nigeria among the most talented football nations in Africa.
“Congratulations to our exceptional footballers, football fans, and Nigeria.”
