FOUR times African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure, has expressed his wish for strongly hopes that Sadio Mane wins the Ballon D Or Award.
Sadio Mane has had an almost perfect season this year winning the AFCON trophy with Senegal, qualifying for the 2023 World Cup, winning the EFL Cup and the FA Cup with Liverpool, but lost the Premier League title race to Manchester City and the Champions League trophy to Real Madrid.
The 30 years old player with such performance has been hinted to win the prestigious France football award, Ballon D Or, ahead of possible top contender, Karim Benzema.
Yaya Toure who played for Manchester City and Barcelona during his football days is among those who believe the 'Lion of Teranga' deserves the award.
"He [Mane] is hardly ever injured, he is very strong physically. He's also a good guy, a good person that I know personally. I want the best for him" Toure told RFI.
"I hope he will have a good [World Cup] tournament and I hope he won't just be ranked high, but win the Ballon d'Or. Sadio Mane is a great player and a great person" he added
Sadio Mane made a shocking switch this summer as the player will now play for Bayern Munich next season after completing a deal away from Liverpool.
