MIDFIELD maestro, Wilfred Ndidi has praised the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their performance that secured them a place in the Round of 16 of the 2023 AFCON.
The Super Eagles, under the leadership of Jose Peseiro’s side, achieved the feat after recording a 1-0 victory against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
Ndidi, who was among Nigeria’s squad for the AFCON 2023 finals but was later replaced by Alhassan Yusuf due to injury, lauded the team for its success.
“It was really bad for me not to be there, but I’m so happy for the team because even from last year, this is what we have been planning to do for the AFCON.
“Just try as much as possible to get to the final. We planned to win games which gets you to the next stage,” Ndidi told Sky Sports.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon for the Round of 16 stages of the competition, which will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
