What you need to know about 2023 FIFA Women World Cup

Nigeria is among the 28 teams out of 32 who have qualified for the World Cup tournament, while the remaining 3 teams will be decided in February 2023.

FIFA has put in place preparations for the 2023 Women's World Cup which is set to be hosted in New Zealand and Australia from July 20, 2023, to August 20, 2023.

FIFA has expanded the competition from 24 teams to 32 for the first time, which would permit numerous countries to make history by qualifying for their first-ever Women's World Cup.

Currently, 28 teams out of the 32 teams have qualified for the World cup tournament while the remaining 3 teams will be decided in February 2023 through the inter-confederation play-offs, scheduled to take place in New Zealand.

The 29 teams to have qualified are Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, Nigeria, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Sweden, Spain, Netherlands, England, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and the Republic of Ireland.

The 2023 FIFA World Cup draw will be held on October 22, 2022, in New Zealand while the competition begins in July, with the USA hoping to win the competition for the third consecutive time.
