FORMER African footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, says he is surprised that some players made it into the list of players that will represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their games this summer.
The ex super eagles star and 1996 Olympic Gold medalist was careful not to mention names, but made it clear that some players are past their best and the coaches should begin hunting for replacements.
"I'm shocked some of these players are still part of the national team, some of these players we should do away with them, we need some fresh players in the national team", Ikpeba said on SuperSport's Monday Night Football.
He also went ahead to commend some players and also gave advice on what must be done to improve the players.
"The likes of Victor Osimhen, Chukwueze, Iheanacho, Iwobi, Moses Simon must compete for positions, that is the only way we can get the best from these players."
The Super Eagles of Nigeria had lost their first match under the guidance of newly appointed head coach, Jose Peseiro, and will be looking to bounce back when they play Ecuador on Friday in a friendly game.
