EX-Super Eagles of Nigeria's Head Coach, Jose Peseiro has claimed that if they had Victor Boniface in the squad the AFCON23 final may have turned out differently.

Peseiro, who is now a free agent believes that if Victor Boniface had not picked up an injury, he would have made a difference in the team and probably help win the AFCON title.

"I will say that Boniface would have made the difference without injury. He was very confident and can play comfortably in our two-man attacking style,” Peseiro said in a television interview in Portugal.

“He can also play on both sides of the strikers, and that would have made him our invisible arc in the tournament. Our options to refine our style were limited in his absence,” he added.

Boniface, before the injury that kept him out of the tournament, had been lethal in front of goal, registering 24 goal involvements (16 goals, eight assists) in 23 all-competition appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.
