SPANISH club, Barcelona, has officially sacked its club's Manager, Ronald Koeman, in the late hours of yesterday, October 27, 2021, following a 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano.
A statement on Barcelona's website read:
"FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first-team coach. The president of the club, Joan Laporta, informed him of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva. FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career"
Following the announcement, reports have revealed that the club has begun talks with famous legend and Al Sadd manager, Xavi Hernandez, as a possible replacement for Ronald Koeman.
Until he can assume the role full time, Sergi Barjuan will take over as an interim coach for the three fixtures against Alaves, Dynamo Kiev, and Celta Vigo
