60 years old manager, Steve Bruce, has officially left Newcastle United by mutual consent since joining the club in 2019.

The decision to part ways with the manager is the first big call by the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund that took control of the club earlier this month as they look to reshape the team.

A statement released by the club read, "#NUFC can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.

"The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wishes him well for the future"

Steve Bruce whose last game was a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 17, 2021, also thanked the club for the opportunity given to him.

“I am grateful to everyone connected with Newcastle United for the opportunity to manage this unique football club,” Bruce said in a statement. “I would like to thank my coaching team, the players, and the support staff in particular for all their hard work. There have been highs and lows, but they have given everything even in difficult moments and should be proud of their efforts.

Newcastle United is currently in search of a worthy replacement and reports suggest that former Roma manager, Paulo Fonesca, is the top candidate for the job.
