SCOTLAND football club will not be writing off selling Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Calvin Bassey, this summer amidst interest from some Premier League clubs.

Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish has suggested that Rangers would find it difficult to keep hold of the talented player as Aston Villa and West Ham have shown interest and will be tabling a bid soon.

McLeish said to Football Insider:"He’s becoming a sought-after component and rightly so with his performance levels. So much so there’s interest outside of Rangers who would obviously like to have him in their team. That country just happens to be over the border in England.

"They will also be aware that if someone comes in with a monstrous bid for him, it can help them recruit more players. Obviously, they would need to fill the void that he leaves and he’s proven to be a very versatile player."

Bassey who is listed in the 30 man list to represent Nigeria at the friendlies against Ecuador and Mexico joined Rangers as a free agent after leaving Leicester City in the summer of 2020.
