CHRISTOPHER Galtier has been named the new coach of Qatari-owned French club and champions, Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

The announcement was made earlier today which means that Argentine manager, Maurio Pochettino, has been relieved of his duty as PSG head coach despite winning the French Ligue.

The 55 years old Frenchman, Galtier, will take over the club management immediately as he is handed over the responsibility of bringing the Champions League trophy to the club as quickly as possible.

"Yes, I am emotional, yes I am proud," said Galtier at a press conference on Tuesday

"I am fully aware of the responsibility placed on me, that PSG had a huge season.I have prepared myself for this. If I have accepted these responsibilities, it is because I feel I am capable."

Galtier was in charge of Lille  when they won the Ligue 1 title in 2021. He becomes  PSG’s seventh coach since the Qataris bought the club 11 years ago.
