PBAT clears Super Eagles ₦12 billion debt ahead of AFCON

The announcement was made by Senator John Owan-Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, who made it known on Saturday at a thanksgiving service held at Holy Family Catholic Church in the Cross River State village of Ikom LGA.

PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cleared the N12 billion owed to the national team with just a week to go before the 2023 Africa Nations Cup (AFCON) tournament in Côte d'Ivoire.

The debts cleared would enable the administrators of sports and other sports within the jurisdiction of the sports ministry to pay off due salaries and other outstanding bills.

The announcement was made by Senator John Owan-Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, who made it known on Saturday at a thanksgiving service held at Holy Family Catholic Church in the Cross River State village of Ikom LGA.

The Minister also charged the senior national team players and managers to put in much more effort to win the AFCON competition, as everyone in the country is rooting for them to achieve it.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14 before playing host, Ivory Coast four days later, and then conclude the Group stage games against Guinea Bissau on January 22, 2024.
