IN the absence of lethal goal-scorer, Victor Osimhen, league leaders, Napoli suffered a stunning 4-0 defeat to AC Milan in yesterday's league game at the Stadio Diego Amando Maradona.
Osimhen suffered a knock while on international duty with Nigeria and had to be rested for the fixture which obviously led to the team's defeat.
Rivals, AC Milan, however, took advantage of the situation and took down Naples through goals from Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz, and Alexis Saelemaekers.
AC Milan's win has reduced the gap to 20 points behind Napoli and 1 point safe into the Champions League spot.
The Milan side will have to fight in the remaining 10 games to secure a Champions League spot, while Napoli still stands a good chance of winning the league.
That aside, Napoli would have an opportunity revenge against Milan when they meet in the Champions League next week, in the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Lucky enough, Osimhen did not sustain a serious injury, indicating that he would be available for Napoli’s Champions League clash against Milan and hopefully for the rest of the season, provided there are no setbacks.
