SUPER Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen is among the final three-man that has been shortlisted for the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.
The final three-man shortlist was announced by CAF on Thursday morning on their official X account, and surprisingly, last year’s winner, Sadio Mane, failed to make the final shortlist.
Shortlisted alongside the Napoli forward for the prestigious award are Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi, and Egypt and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah.
Osimhen has been deemed the favourite to win the award due to his contributions to Napoli's last season's league win, scoring 26 league goals for Naples as they won the Serie A for the first time in 33 years.
The striker is looking to become the first Nigerian to win the award since Kanu Nwankwo was named the Best Player on the Continent in 1999.
The winner will be revealed at the CAF Awards Gala on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco.
