Shortlisted alongside the Napoli forward for the prestigious award are Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi, and Egypt and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah.

Osimhen has been deemed the favourite to win the award due to his contributions to Napoli's last season's league win, scoring 26 league goals for Naples as they won the Serie A for the first time in 33 years.
