FORMER Barcelona player, Lionel Messi, has finally spoken up as regards the dismissal of Ronald Koeman as manager.

The Dutch man's tenure ended after 14 months at the club accompanied by series of poor performances, including a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Messi, who during his time at the club was reported not to be on good terms with the manager, eventually left the club in January due to Barcelona's financial crisis.

“You are always unfair to coaches. It was unfair with Koeman, with Ernesto Valverde,” Messi told Marca.

“When there are bad results, the easiest thing is to target the coach, change him and not the players.

“Koeman arrived at a very difficult time at the club in which important players left, but he was able to remove many young players.

“As I told you, the easiest thing is always to blame the coach. And they also know it because it is their profession.”

Although, sometimes ago, Ronald Koeman referred to Lionel Messi as a "tyrant", Messi is of the opinion that Koeman's dismissal is unfair.
