Argentine and Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi, seems to be having his worst start this season with his continued failure to secure a goal from open play in all competitions this season.
Messi had hoped to depart on a free transfer from the club after the end of last season. However, after some legal battle, the Argentine had to decide to stay.
Now, with Barcelona sitting in 12th position in La Liga with just two wins in seven matches under new manager, Ronald Koeman, Messi seems to be struggling as he has not yet scored from open play this season in all competitions.
This is despite the fact that the 33-year-old has played 40 shots from open play without finding the back of the net.
Although the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored four goals this season, all the four came from the penalty spot, says BR Football.
Goal says he has scored five goals this season, all from the penalty spot.
