LIVERPOOL FC has refused to release Mohammed Salah for international duties due to quarantine restrictions.
Liverpool, as well as other members of the European Club Association, has been seeking exemptions from the mandatory quarantine rules for players returning from red list countries such as Egypt, but there has been no agreement between the Premier League and the government
Liverpool had to inform the Egypt FA that the 29-year-old will not be releasing him for the World Cup qualifier against Angola in Cairo to avoid having him quarantine for 10 days.
Also, Liverpool’s Brazilian trio, Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, are in a similar predicament with Brazil on the UK’s red list.
Should they eventually be allowed to go for international duty, Salah, Alisson, Firmino and Fabinho would miss the Leeds game, Liverpool’s first Champions League group fixture.
