THE six-times Ballon D'or winner, Leo Messi, is close to surpassing football legend, Pele's record as football's greatest one-club man.

Messi is 3 goals shy from breaking Pele's record for most goals scored for one club.

Pele scored 643 goals for Brazilian side Santos while Messi currently sits on 641 goals for Barcelona.

This is not the first time the captain would be breaking records.  He already holds 80 Guinness World Records which includes a record for calendar year goals with 91 in 2012,  surpassing that of Gerd Muller of Germany's Bayern Munich in 1972 with 85 goals.

Not only will Messi be breaking Pele's record, but he will also be doing it in a shorter period with Pele, achieving 643 goals in 19 seasons while Messi will be doing it in 17 seasons.

Messi joined Barcelona at age 13 from Newell old boys.
