KEPA Arrizabalaga has insisted that he will be ready to take the Goal keeper position in January when Edouard Mendy would be away for the AFCON competition.

Kepa, who made only his fourth appearance of the campaign in the win over Southampton yesterday, October 26, 2021, lost his place as Chelsea's first choice shot stopper when Edouard Mendy joined the club in 2020 from Rennes.

Fortunately, Kepa could be given a chance to return to the goal post in January, when first-choice, Mendy, is set to be away for up to four weeks with Senegal at the AFCON.

"Well, it’s two months away of course, we know it can happen and I will be ready but we have a lot of games until we start thinking about that" Kepa said

“Let’s go step by step and we’ll see what happens. If he goes to the African Cup, all the best and I’ll be ready. But it’s still a long way to arrive at that point,” he added.

Chelsea sits in top of the Premier League table and is still in the Champions League competition, as well as the EFL cup.
