REAL Madrid midfielder, Fede Valverde, has boldly declared that out of respect for his current club he would not play for old time rival, Barcelona.

The Uruguay international joined the men in white in 2016 before his 18th birthday, and has since gone ahead to establish himself has a key player making over 130 appearances for the club.

It's no new news that both the Santiago Bernabeu team, and Barcelona are old time rivals and, in fact, have their fixtures tagged the El Classico.

Valverde out of respect for Real Madrid made it clear that he would never play for Barcelona. In his own words, “Real Madrid are special, life-changing. I’m a Penarol man, but ever since I got here I’ve known I was wearing the shirt of the best club in the world. It’s a lot of pressure and responsibility, but I’ve enjoyed it. Out of respect for Real Madrid, and the values they’ve instilled in me, I wouldn’t play for Barcelona.”

Valverde has played 32 games for the club this season, and has helped the club secure a sit at the top of the La Liga table, with ten points clear of second-placed Sevilla. Also, the club will face old rivals Barcelona in El Classico on Sunday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu.
