THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) decided to award Jose Peseiro a contract extension as announced on Sunday, September 3, 2023, ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against São Tomé.
Jose Peseiro, who was on a monthly salary of $70,000, has agreed to take a pay cut that will see him earn $60,000 per month till the end of his contract, which will expire after the 2023 AFCON next January.
The 63-year-old Portuguese tactician also agreed to cut down his foreign assistants, while the NFF, in response, agreed to pay the former Porto Manager outstanding salaries in batches.
With all these in place, Peseiro is expected to take charge of the Super Eagles against Sao Tome and Principe in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.
Among the players shortlisted for the fixture are Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Moses Simon, William Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Taiwo Awoniyi, Adebayo Adeleye, Francis Uzoho, Ademola Lookman, and Joe Ayodele-Aribo.
