REAL Madrid's goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has claimed that Liverpool gave them a tough time during the second leg of the Round of 16 fixtures of the Champions League.
Despite having a comfortable 5-2 win at Anfield, Real Madrid could not have it easy at home, as Liverpool came with full force to try and create something while Real Madrid fought back to ensure they move to the next stage.
As time would have it, Madrid eventually scored a goal to ensure they remain dominant in the Champions League.
Courtois, who was also top of the game, had to admit that despite defeating the Reds, it was not easy, as they gave a good performance, while Alison kept them in the game with some saves.
"It was a good performance from us. They tried to create chances, Alison made a series of brilliant saves, and until our goal came, we knew they were still in the game. Once we got that goal, the game cooled off a bit, and we knew we were going to qualify," Courtois told Real Madrid.
Real Madrid would now have to wait until Friday, March 17, 2023, to see who they will face at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.
