Bayern's star mid-fielder, Kimmich, sidelined by injury till January

The 25-year-old Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder, Joshua Kimmich, has been ruled out till January after undergoing right knee surgery on Sunday.

The German was helped off the field after an injury following a tackle on Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, which left a meniscus tear on his right knee. He was shown a yellow card for the foul committed.

Bayern Munich in a statement on their official website said: "Joshua Kimmich underwent successful surgery on his right lateral meniscus on Sunday evening. 

"The FC Bayern medical department expects the midfielder to be available again in January."

Bayern board member Hasan Salihamidzic added: "We're glad that Joshua will probably be available again in a matter of weeks. We'll support him in his rehabilitation as best we can."
