Impressively for Lagos State today, which had been leading on the COVID-19 tally, the number of cases have gone down to 59 with 910 deaths, nationwide, 31, 551discharged and 31, 851 confirmed cases. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this on their twitter handle this morning.

The high and increasing figures of Covid-19 cases in Lagos State has been quite alarming and worrisome, with Alimosho Local Government recording the highest tally of 663 after Etiosa with 1,515.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi, illustrated the data statistically via his twitter handle. Epe records the least, 35, Surulere has 478 while Alimosho maintains second lead on the table.

Meanwhile, night clubs, hotels and bars in Alimosho LGA have devised means of circumventing the eased lockdown rules, which has not attracted the frowns of the Lagos State Safety Commission. Alimoshotoday gathered that most of the leisure spots have developed an operational style that has technical compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

Formula 5 hotel at Akowonjo, for instance, has a bar behind its main hall and reception where the protocols are not being observed. Customers watch football, smoke and drink in groups without wearing masks or being socially distant.

At Omooba Carwash and Relaxation Centre, Ile-Epo Alhaji, Alimosho Today learnt that the protocols are being duly observed as the main hall for the bar has been abandoned for a smaller one. The operator of the bar disclosed that no Commission or task force member has come to harass or charge them. The operator, who pleaded anonymity, maintained that operations and sales have been very low but she is very hopeful as most people usually buy and take away.
