1.  NIGERIAN EMERGES FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO BAG PHD IN ROBOTICS AT MICHIGAN VARSITY

A Nigerian woman identified as Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi has made history as the first black woman to bag a PhD in Robotics at the University of Michigan in the United States. According to media reports, while speaking at the University’s College of Engineering convocation, Dosunmu-Ogunbi, a daughter of Nigerian immigrants, spoke on the support she received in realising her aspirations.

2.  FG ORDERS REGISTRATION OF POS OPERATORS IN NIGERIA9517
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has issued a two-month registration deadline to Point of Sales (PoS) companies to register their agents, merchants, and individuals with the Commission in line with legal requirements and the directives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The CBN has asked all PoS operators in Nigeria to register their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission by July 7, 2024.

3.  DISCOS SLASH BAND A ELECTRICITY TARIFF TO N206.80/KWHIkeja-Electricity-Distribution-Company
The Electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria have announced a reduction in the tariff of customers under the Band A classification to N206.80 per kilowatt-hour (kwh). The new tariff would take effect from May 6, 2024.

4.  WE’LL BLOCK LOAN APPS THAT HARASS CUSTOMERS – FCCPC9483
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has announced that it will begin the process of blocking loan apps that harass customers.  According to media reports, this was disclosed on the Commissions X page on Saturday, 4 May 2024, where the Acting Chairman of the FCCPC, Adamu Abdullahi, made it known that they have begun to address the issue.
