THE Proprietress of the Great Platinum Schools, Mrs Victoria Ojeleye, has decried the effect of COVID-19 on finances in the educational sector.

This is just as she implored the government to help both private and secondary schools with necessary infrastructure to make virtual learning easier.

Mrs Ojeleye disclosed this in an interview with AlimoshoToday.

The director, who said the finances are not that strong, said the school has, however, been encouraging parents to pay school fees.

She lamented that a lot of parents lost their jobs due to the lockdown and a lot of students could not attend the online classes because of the non-availability of android phones.

She said this led the school to start school curriculum afresh when the school resumed.

Mrs Ojeleye, who affirmed that virtual learning is the new normal, however, asked that the government help both private and public schools with facilities that will make e-learning easier.

On why Great Platinum Schools are exceptional, she said: "Great Platinum Schools happen to be the first school that started e-learning in this Alimosho. We believe that we are pacesetters."

She also emphasised that the students of Great Platinum Schools, after their education in the school, are always doing very well in their respective tertiary institutions, even outside the shores of Nigeria.
