IT was not a pleasant experience for residents of Abesan Estate in the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA of Alimosho LGA, as the early morning rainstorm of Monday, May 15, 2023, carted away roofs of some houses in the neighbourhood.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the rainstorm, which started around 3.30 am, also uprooted some trees in the community.
According to Mukaila Sanusi, one of the passers-by who raised the alarm, the rainstorm wreaked havoc in Abesan Estate, removing roofs and uprooting trees.
He said some aluminium sheets dangerously hugged electric poles and lines, calling for urgent external intervention to heal affected residents’ wounds.
“God, have mercy. The rainstorm wreaked havoc in Abesan Estate, removing roofs and uprooting trees. It is a disaster in waiting as aluminium sheets dangerously hugged electric poles and lines.
“The community definitely needs external intervention to heal the wounds, “Sanusi said.
Abesan Estate, Ipaja, is one of the Lagos State Government’s low-cost housing schemes built between 1980 and 1984 during the administration of Alhaji Lateef Jakande.
