A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women Liberation and Transformation Group (W-LIT) has said that it has distributed food items and other essentials to the less privileged residents of the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA in Alimosho LGA and Somolu LGA.

Information reaching Alimoshotoday states that the beneficiaries, comprising of the widow, aged, and physically challenged ones, numbering about 10,133 were provided with rice, vegetable oil, and seasonings.

The Iyaloja General (Leader) of Somolu and Oyediran markets, Mrs Modupeola Olufojude, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, called on Nigerians to lend more helping hands to widows and other less privileged in their communities.

“We need to support our widows because of their condition; they are the ones left as the breadwinners of their families after the demise of their partners.

“Sometimes, things can be too tough for them; so, welfare programmes, aimed at them, register quickly in memories,” she said.

Olufojude said that the welfare programme by W-LIT was commendable, adding that it was the first of its kind in the community. She said that the community needed more of such programmes.
