THE female students of the Great Platinum Schools, Baruwa Ipaja, celebrated the Year 2022 International Girls in ICT Day with a motivational seminar for the girls on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
The Year 2022 International Girls in ICT Day which was tagged ‘Access & Safety’, featured presentations and speeches on the definition of technology as a concept in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), career choices for girls in ICT, learning website for young girls, and online safety.
Mr Dupe Akinola, the Publisher of AlimoshoToday.com, enlightened the young girls on the technical part of ICT where he explained some career choices for girls in ICT.
Some of the career choices he mentioned include; web developer, data administrator, business analyst, software developer, and so on.
Miss Ayomide Eweje, a journalist with AlimoshoToday presented the creative side of ICT to the young girls. She informed them that they can choose to work as a content creator, a blogger, or an online journalist.
She also shared some safety online tips with the girls, some of the tips are; don’t share your personal data with any stranger online, make sure your data are protected with strong passwords and do not connect to any available wi-fi without verifying the source.
She thereafter shared some learning websites with the girls. Some of these sites are; Youtube for kids, e-learning.com, coolmaths.com, and so on.
Great Platinum Schools is located at Road 12, Peace Estate Baruwa, Ipaja Road, Lagos. It features both the primary and secondary levels of education. The school also has a standard boarding facility.
Great Platinum Schools also run vocational training in four courses as part of its curriculum; the school also features an after-school hours JAMB class for prospective UTME candidates.
