GREAT Platinum Schools, Baruwa, Ipaja is one school to watch. The school, owned by Mrs Victoria Ojeleye, is not just about helping parents groom their children in preparation for the future, the school as we discovered has a heart of gold.

Great Platinum Schools have a unique lifestyle of visiting the needy at noted times of the year! Expectedly, one might say this kindhearted school's act is one of such usual smart PR formulas used by businesses to win the hearts of their customers and to earn public goodwill. Yes. But there is something so natural in Great Platinum Schools' approach that suggests it indeed has a heart of gold.

AlimoshoToday.com asked Mrs Ojeleye, the Proprietress of Great Platinum Schools, what motivates the school to give so much away to the needy. She said, "When you appreciate the faithfulness of God, you need to give back to the community. More so, for our school, when we look back, we see that the Lord has been so faithful.

"We have heard of many terrible situations in the country, even within Lagos State. The Lord has been faithful to us and we are able to key into the prophecies of our fathers in the Lord; no limitations- God expands us, no death- we never lost any of our kids to death or sickness to the glory of God. We only heard of it with our ears, the evil did not come near us. So our giving to the needy is our way of appreciating God.

"Giving to the needy has been a yearly responsibility since the inception of the school and we don't ever intend to stop."

Asked which areas do the school channel its humanitarian efforts, Mrs Ojeleye said, "There are no criteria for choosing the beneficiaries, though the community in which the school is established is the number one priority.  If you look at our communities, there are a lot of people that are finding it very hard to get by. So we look for such people within our local government area and our immediate local community.

"I want to encourage the elites to support so that we can encourage the weak people, that is, the less privileged, the orphans, and the old people. Then we should extend our support to the local government so that they can be able to extend the appreciation back to the community."

On whether there is a vision for expanding the school's humanitarian act to places outside the Alimosho local government.

"As the Lord blesses us, we will extend the hands of fellowship to other people outside our area. "The school will be nine years this year and there's a possibility of a celebration next year when it clocks 10 years", she said.

Nine years of giving to the helpless; that's a great school with a heart of gold.
