Ayobo-Ipaja council boss presents budget of N2.107Billion to Legislative Council!

THE Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Hon. (Mrs) Bola Shobowale, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, presented a budget of N2.107Billion to the Legislative Council for approval in order to ensure sustainable and socio-economic development in the council area.

While presenting the budget, tagged ‘Budget of Hope and Reality, to the legislature, the council boss said that the final budget is a result of several deliberations by all stakeholders involved in the development of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.

“I am proud to say that the document we are about to present is a product of a painstaking analysis of the needs and peculiar nature of our Local Council Development Area as suggested by the people themselves. It is a budget of the people, by the people and for the people.

“The year 2022 budget is very important to this administration because this marks the beginning of the fulfilment of our infrastructural development and efficient service delivery programmes to the people of this Local Council Development Area,” the mayor said.

Hon. Shobowale, hereafter, highlighted the objectives of the Year 2022 budget.

“Therefore, the policy thrust of the Y2022 budget shall strive to achieve the following objectives:
(1). Enhancement of the internally generated revenue of the Local Council Development Area.
(2). Ensuring maximum control of expenditure and blocking of all loopholes.
(3). Pursuit of plans, programmes and projects with positive and direct impacts on the people.
(4). Re-orientation of expenditure towards the provision of sustainable service enabling environment
(5). Development of a database for planning.
(6). Enhancing youth and women empowerment programmes.
(7). Better welfare packages for the workforce.
(8). Equal distribution of dividends of democracy,” she listed.

She also mentioned that this year’s budget is a 12.1% increase over the 2021 budget, stating that revenue will be generated internally, through tax and levies, and through the Federal Statutory Allocation.

“Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area is presenting a budget of #2.107b. Otherwise known as “Budget of Hope & Reality”. This is 12.1% more than last year’s estimate. Out of this, internally generated revenue is #89.94m; federal statutory allocation and value-added tax are #812.43m and #1.005b respectively,” she reiterated.

Some infrastructural and socio-economic projects captured in the budget include; construction of a block of 12 classrooms at Salvation Primary School (II), Ayobo; construction of a storey building Primary Health Care Centre at Ighesu, Ayobo;  provision of drainages & culverts; provision of teaching aids and equipment to primary schools within the Local Council Development Area.

Others include; grading of roads; women and youth empowerment programmes with equipment and start-up capital for small scale businesses; provision of furniture and equipment for staff; and welfare package for members of staff.
