FOUNDED in 1970, initially as Niger Secondary Commercial College, Abesan Senior High School, Ipaja has, in her over 52 years of existence, brought nothing short of praises to Alimosho, earning the admiration of others, within and outside Lagos.

Alimosho prides itself in having a school of this repute in their land, as consistently, students of Abesan have gone all out in various competitions, knocking down co-contenders to clinch excellent laurels. In recent times also, especially this year, her students have done exceedingly well

In February, the United States Consulate launched a drone soccer competition in Lagos to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among Nigerian students. Unsurprisingly, the first, second, and third positions were won by students in Alimosho schools, with Abesan Senior High School coming third, with prize money of $1,500 (over #980,000).

In August, Ngwaogu Ifeoluwa Ugochi of Abesan Senior High School, Ipaja was rewarded with the sum of #150,000 after she emerged winner of the third South African Airways Essay Competition (SAAEC, 2022).

Most recently, another student, Wisdom Nwomuma beat 52 students to win the 2022 secondary school essay competition organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As we celebrate the successes of our future leaders, we hope for more of these positive reports from students of Abesan Senior High School, Ipaja, as well as all other schools in Alimosho, come 2023.
