OPERATIVES of the Lagos State Police Command have launched a widespread search and manhunt for three men, who allegedly conspired with two others, now arrested, to gang-rape a 16-year-old girl and damaged her private part in the process.

Media reports state that the incident happened where they reside at Ralitu Daramola Street, Abegunleko area of Ikotun, in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA on September 13, 2022.

The victim, whose private part was said to have been badly damaged due to forceful penetration, was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where she is being treated for the injury she sustained during the dastardly act.

The incident was reported to the Police, who moved into action and two of the suspects, Monday Olukunle, 25 and Tunde Babatunde, 21, have been arrested and charged with conspiracy and defilement while the other three were said to currently be at large.

However, when they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, SP Akeem Raji, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged offence attracts severe punishment in the interest of justice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered their remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was subsequently adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
