MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY: Akinsanya calls for girl child protection

AS the world celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day on Monday, June 5, 2023, the Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, has trained over 100 people on how to make sanitary pads, while also calling on parents and government at all levels to protect the rights of the girl child.

Information reaching Alimoshotoday states that Akinsanya made the call at the celebration of the 2023 Menstrual Hygiene Day with the theme "We are committed," organised by the council in collaboration with PEPSICO Foundation at the Council Secretariat main auditorium, on Monday, June 5, 2023.

The council Helmsman, who was represented by the Executive Vice-Chairman, Hon. (Mrs) Mojisola Badmus, said: "Every girl child at the age of menstruation must be carefully protected against social vices."

Badmus, who fully participated in the celebration and training exercise, urged participants, who are majorly primary and secondary school teachers and education officers, to extend what they have learnt to their various schools and organisations.

"This should be taken to our junior schools; the teachers who have been trained today should take it to their various schools,"  Badmus said.
