A 33-year-old man, Obinna Nwankwo, has landed in trouble in Ikotun in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA after he went to Twins Faja Supermarket and was unable to make a cash payment of N1,950 for the items he had selected to buy.

According to media reports, the incident happened at a branch of Twins Faja Supermarket in Ikotun and Nwankwo was arrested by Police operatives from the Ikotun Division.

According to the Police, the suspect, Nwankwo, went to the supermarket and selected three body spray perfumes, each valued at N650 but had no cash on him to pay for the items, which led to an altercation between him and the management.

The management then contacted the Police, after which he was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.

While he was at the station, the Police asked him to show proof that he came to the Supermarket to buy the items by presenting the money he had with him.

He had no cash on him and was thus found culpable of committing a crime and subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for allegedly pretending to be a customer and stealing the items.

He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

The prosecutor, SP Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the court to give a short adjournment to enable the Police to prove that he committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

However, he was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till March 2023, 2023, for a hearing.
