LG Elections: Lawmakers visit Igando-Ikotun LCDA for preparations

Two Lagos State House of Assembly members, Honourable Desmond Elliot and Honourable Victor Akande, the Committee Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) on Wednesday visited the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area.

 

IMG_1606925890043The lawmakers were shown round the Secretariat by officials of the Council.

Comrade Eniola Badmus Oseni, Special Adviser to the LCDA on Media and Publicity made this known in a statement.

The purpose of the visit was to prepare for the 2021 local government elections.

Oseni said: "The visit of the LASIEC Committee Chairman to Igando-Ikotun LCDA today has affirmed that the next Local Government Elections will hold in 2021."

Honourables Elliot and Akande told the LCDA Vice-Chairman who represented the Chairman, Morenike Adeshina Williams: "Our visit to your office is to officially familiarise you with the forthcoming local government elections slated for next year, 2021.

"We also seek your co-operation in ensuring that LASIEC officers domiciled in your local government, particularly the Resident Electoral Officer, has a conducive and convenient working environment to discharge his statutory obligations."

Oseni said: "The Vice Chairman, Hon. Prince Adewunmi Dada appreciated the team for eventually making the visit as proposed."

Adewunmi also applauded them for establishing the legality of a four-year tenure for LGs/LCDAs in Lagos State. 

He said: "This administration is progressive in nature. We are committed to ensuring that processes of governance remain effective."

"To this end, I can assure you that the office of the agency domiciled in our local government will enjoy our total support and cooperation," he told the lawmakers.

 

"Once again, on behalf of the Council Chairman Hon. Adesina Williams, we thank you for finding time out of your busy schedule to make this remarkable working visit," he concluded.
